CASES, FATWĀS, LEGISLATION ON ISLAMIC LAW - In Nigeria, "the Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested seven suspected cross-dressers during a late-night raid on a popular social joint in the city centre. The suspects were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation indicating alleged illicit activities.... Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, who confirmed the arrests, said all the suspects are teenagers below the age of 23. He added that the joint would soon be sealed off."
- "Gov. Greg Abbott...signed a proclamation declaring the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations in Texas. 'The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR have long made their goals clear: to forcibly impose Sharia law and establish Islam's mastership of the world,' Abbott said in a statement."
- The Indian Supreme Court "indicated that it may consider invalidating Talaq-e-Hasan, a form of divorce under Muslim personal law under which a man can dissolve his marriage by saying 'talaq' once a month over three months."
- "Iran's judiciary chief ordered prosecutors...to 'swiftly' confront what he called 'social abnormalities,' including women appearing in public without headscarves. Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei told the Supreme Judicial Council that new directives have been issued targeting women and that coordination between prosecutors, intelligence agencies, and security forces has increased."
