Meanwhile, the advocacy group Muslim Rights Concern issued a statement asking the Nigerian federal government to "fully integrate Shari'ah courts into the country's judicial system."

In May, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan reported that "more than 180 people, including women and girls, have been flogged for the offences of adultery and practicing homosexuality during the reporting period, in public venues attended by Taliban officials." Additionally, a Human Rights Watch report noted that "since July 16, the Taliban have arrested dozens of women and girls in Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, for allegedly violating Taliban dress codes."
