- In "The IVF Exception: Strengthening Free Exercise Challenges to Abortion Bans" (UC Law Constitutional Quarterly 52, no. 3 (2025)), Io Jones (University of Virginia School of Law) notes that "[i]n September 2022, a group of Jewish and Muslim plaintiffs challenged Indiana's state abortion ban, arguing that the ban infringes on religious freedom [for Muslims, in line with their adherence to sharīʿa norms permitting abortion in limited instances] that is protected by the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act."
