- In "Codifying religious family laws in South Africa: reframing the debate within the paradigm of substantive gender equality" (Culture and Religion: An Interdisciplinary Journal, November 12, 2024), Waheeda Amien (University of Cape Town, South Africa) "explores three approaches for the recognition of religious family laws: assimilation, accommodation, and integration. She argues that none of the three approaches provides sufficient protection for women's rights. She suggests that the plurality of marriage forms should be recognised and regulated in a way that enables minority communities to practice their religion in a manner that does not undermine women's rights."
- In "A Critical Appraisal of Obligatory Bequest as Prevalent in Muslim Countries" (Islamic Studies 63, no. 2 (2024)), Haseeb Fatima Saikhu argues that "[t]he obligatory bequest has been adopted by legal force in several Muslim states. The basic purpose of this adoption is to overcome the economic grievances of orphaned grandchildren. This reform seems to be justified from an Islamic perspective because it does not radically interfere with the Islamic law of inheritance. . . However, obligatory bequest is not an ideal solution; it has restricted its benefit to grandchildren only and no provision is made for spouses and surviving parents."
- In "The Impact of Incidental Doubt on the Continuation of the Descriptive Attribute that Establishes the Ruling According to the Maliki School – An Applied Foundational Study" (An-Najah University Journal for Research 38, no. 11 (2024)), Agha D. Khlouq (Sheikh Nuh College of Sharia and Law, World Islamic Sciences Education University, Amman, Jordan) and others "aim[] to elucidate the impact of incidental doubt on the descriptive attribute that establishes a ruling in its continuation (Istiṣḥāb) according to Maliki Stream."
- In "The Role of Islam in the Prevention of Suicide: An Analytical Study of the Reasons Behind Suicide Prevention in Islam" (An-Najah University Journal for Research 38, no. 11 (2024)), Hamza Hammad (Jerash University, Jerash, Jordan) "extrapolate[s] and analyze[s] the causes leading to suicide prevention in the Islamic religion, by deducing the relationship between the level of Islamic religiosity and mental health, specifically suicide, then extrapolating the factors or components that lead to suicide prevention in the Islamic religion, as well as analyzing the Islamic faith's position on Suicide, then inferring the effect of belief in fate and destiny on psychological security and in reducing suicide."
